Jon “Bones” Jones, the UFC light heavyweight champion was arrested after he was found in a parked car with open liquor and a firearm.
According to TSN, on Thursday, March 26th, several gunshots were heard by Albuquerque officers. When the officers followed up on the gunshots, they found Jon “Bones” Jones, the UFC light heavyweight champion in a parked car with a firearm and an open bottle of liquor. According to the officers on scene, the bottle was half empty.
According to Albuquerque police, Jones has been arrested on several charges. They include suspicion of aggravated DWI, lacking proof of insurance for the vehicle he was found in, open alcohol in the vehicle, and negligence with respect to the use of a firearm.
According to the officers on scene, Jones was clearly intoxicated, and the vehicle he was sitting in was running.
Jones has been released on bail following his booking. As of now, public records show that Jones does not have an attorney representing him just yet.
The UFC light heavyweight champion defended his title earlier this year in February against Dominick Reyes. The win went to Jones as per a unanimous vote.
