Badminton Shoes – What to Wear while Playing Badminton

We will talk about the best badminton shoes but before that, we will go from the basic requirements that all footwear need to have to be on the badminton court. to the most demanding requirements to obtain the maximum benefits of our game.

What to know before buying a Badminton Shoe?

No Rubber Soles

At first, we shouldn’t buy the soles that are not of rubber (like tanned leather of the common shoes). Given this step, let’s make sure that our rubber sole is not marking the floor in any way. Usually, the soles of sports shoes do not, but it is not always like that. A clear clue can be given by the legend “non-marking compound” or simply “nonmarking” that we will find written in the sole of the sports. If you do not bring it, wait and if you have not bought it yet … I would not.

Once meet the condition, we will enter into flour. Ideally, choose a leading brand that makes specific kind of badminton footwear and buys the latest model. Evident, but real life is going to prevent us from doing that most of the time.

Therefore we are going to put ourselves in this case: “of the shoe that I have my house, that is not strictly of badminton, which I can use to play?”. There is always a first time for everything, it would not be normal to try the badminton and have a full kit from the first day. That is why looking at our available footwear, we will choose, from among what is most certain, what will not be ruined and, finally, what better benefits we offer.

No athletic Shoes

We will start by discarding the athletic shoes since it is not designed for lateral efforts and could cause serious injuries. We will also remove all kinds of footwear for outdoor use on uneven surfaces. Like mountain shoes, multi-deck soccer shoes, paddle tennis shoes, clay tennis shoes. All of them do not fit (at best) to provide the necessary adherence. Now we will have the sports that without being specific to Badminton. They are perfectly usable and can appear in the shoe rack of any house.

Futsal footwear

it will provide us with a magnificent dynamic performance, that is, excellent grip and response to all kinds of required efforts. Also, its center of gravity is very low, which is always a help. As a weak point, it should be noted that, when hitting the backhand, we all drag the opposite foot of the hand we use. This drag is not contemplated in the design and produces extremely fast wear of the toe of the sports car adjoining the “big toe”. On the other hand, they do not usually have good absorption of impacts, which makes them extremely fast, but somewhat harmful in the long term.

We will conclude, that they are excellent for Badminton, but they will last us relatively little.

Tennis shoes

for “quick” courts, the good thing is that almost everyone has some, more or less modern. They are great for use in squash while the adherence is acceptable, are designed to be very resistant to specific wear to the racquet games (being even more durable than those of our specialty) and usually have good properties for absorption of impacts. The main problem is that they are designed with very resistant materials that subtract us from “touch” and articulation in the foot. They also tend to have some system that stiffens the entire sole of the foot, making them somewhat uncomfortable for our sport.

In short, a good way to start, but not in the long term. A tip: if we have several tennis shoes, we choose the older ones, they will hold more and they will give us more range of movements.

Basketball shoes

this combines the bad of tennis and indoor soccer: they are too rigid and will last very little (less than any other). They have a moderate dynamic performance since they have huge impact absorption systems that also raise the center of gravity too much.

Ideally, do not use this type of shoes too much, although they do not seem dangerous.

Handball footwear

if we make sure that the toe of the sole has enough height and that the cushioning system is not particularly bulky, we have the perfect solution if we do not find special footwear for squash. They are designed for identical squash efforts and are much easier to find in any store. The existing wide range will allow us to choose the more or less voluminous beach, with more or less cushioning, with more or less flashy designs …

We will say that, chosen with some care, the squash and handball footwear is interchangeable. Personally, it is the option that I recommend the most.

Volleyball shoes

if we exclude those that are the boot, they could be used perfectly without problems of any kind. We would put them on but, since they are designed for a sport based on jumping, they are too soft, which makes them somewhat slow.

The option of volleyball is quite good, especially in an initial period of time in which the player has not yet reached a high level.

Squash shoes

It will happen to us, although to a lesser extent, the same as with volleyball shoes or some handball: in the design, it has been taken into account that they will be used many times to jump, so they are a little soft.

If you have one of these pairs, do not hesitate, use them until the end. They are perfectly useful for playing squash.

I hope I have been able to resolve present or future doubts in this regard but you know, for any clarification here we follow.
